Measuring Ball of Foot

If working with the e-wrap stitch plan on about 6 stitches per inch (varies with tension and yarn used).
If working with the knit stitch/flat stitch plan on about 8-8.5 stitches per inch (varies with tension and yarn used) (if you knit tight, go for the 8.5 stitches, if you knit loosely, choose 8stitches per inch).

Let's assume that your foot measures 8.5 inches around the ball of the foot and you are planning to use the Knit Stitch for the socks. You knit tight so you probably will knit at a tension of 8.5 stitches per inch. Grab one of the peg numbers above and divide it by the stitches per inch: 68/8.5=8. Your foot measures 8.5 and the tube made with the 68 peg loom makes a tube that is 8". For a sock, you want negative ease (so it fits snug and doesn't fall), so in this case, choose the 68 peg loom.

However, if you are planning to use the e-wrap stitch, and you get a stitch gauge of 6 stitches per inch, then you will need a different loom: 48(number of pegs on the loom)/6 (stitches per inch)=8. In this case, you will need the 48 peg loom.

Love this ... May 14, 2010
Reviewer: Jolene Torgler from Overland Park, KS United States
I purchased this loom in a "40" peg and haven't put it down, yet!  It's the smallest guage I've ever knit with and ;is so fun to see the stitching when I'm finished!  I could NEVER knit like this with my knitting needles.  I am now a Loom knitter for the rest of my life- it is so much fun, and so much easier,
P.S.  I really like the way the nylon pegs give a little, in case of wrapping too tightly!  I'm ordering your Wonder Loom / Adjustable Fine Guage loom!!!

Great quality and craftmanship April 22, 2009

Great workmanship on the loom itself. I am an experienced sock knitter and I thought I'd give this a shot. It's a lot slower than using my DPN's, it's hard to wrap the yarn around the tiny tiny pegs. If you are looking to knit socks in a snap this is not going to do that for you, it will however supply you with an easy to learn way of making good socks. Also, I can see the loom being a great way to knit socks on the go rather than bringing DPN's as well. Thank you

The best looms ever :) July 24, 2008
Reviewer: Jennifer Stark from Roy, UT United States
I have a 56 peg oval EFG sock loom and a 64 peg oval EFG sock loom.  They are the prettiest looms I have ever seen and so smooth.  They feel luxurious to my hands.  I love the nylon pegs.  These are very well made, beautiful little looms.
